Industrial ceiling fans are used by various commercial entities for similar but slightly different needs. If you own a restaurant you may be interested in a commercial ceiling fan to help disperse the cooking smells in addition to keep the space cool and comfortable. If you have a factory you will use these fans to help reduce your air conditioning costs if the manufacturing process raises the temperature of your environment. If you are the restaurant owner you will probably want a more stylish looking ceiling fan than that required in a factory where speed of air flow might be more important than what the fan looks like.

What should you look for when buying industrial ceiling fans?

When buying an industrial ceiling fan always look for a warranty on both the unit and the parts. Electrical items can and do fail even those from the well known brands such as Westinghouse, Hunter, Emerson and NuTone ceiling fans. Pick the right fan for what you require. For example if you are going to be use it outdoors you will need to choose one of the range of industrial outdoor ceiling fans that is wet rated. If you are going to use it indoors but in a potentially damp area you will want a damp rated fan if you do not opt for the wet rated one. The difference between the two ratings is that the latter can handle direct moisture whereas the former is only suitable if the air around it becomes damp for some reason.

Look at the blade span ratings on the various fans available. You will also need to check whether they are energy efficient as you do not want to run up unnecessary fuel bills. In these economic times you need to keep an eye on the bottom line in your business more than ever before. Don’t use the recession as a reason to buy cheap ceiling fans. You generally get what you pay for and if you do not buy the right size and power rating you might as well throw your money away.

Only buy Commercial ceiling fans from recognized retailers!

When buying commercial ceiling fans always buy from a recognized brand. Emerson ceiling fans are a popular choice as are Westinghouse industrial ceiling fans. When you know who you are buying from you have the comfort of knowing that there is someone available not only if something goes wrong but if you require parts or need a new manual. With the technology available these days you can sometimes find that the controls on modern ceiling fans are a little confusing and you may need to consult the instructions.

An industrial ceiling fan is usually more powerful than a domestic one but that doesn’t mean that you cannot find a stylish accessory for your building. You can choose from contemporary finishes such as chrome or steel or go for the more traditional look if that suits your decor more.

Make sure you carry out routine maintenance on any commercial ceiling fans. This will help to prolong the life of the unit as well as hopefully reduce the chances of the fan breaking down leaving you, your employees and potentially your guests in an uncomfortable environment. Have the fan cleaned on a regular basis. The bearings should be well lubricated and the bolts tightened every so often not just when you hear a funny noise! Don’t ignore any problems – get a professional in as soon as you suspect there is an issue and not when the fan ceases working altogether. You have invested money in your industrial ceiling fan so look after it well to make sure it lasts.
